WHEN You Register with Us as an Artist, If You are Interested in Sending Us Demos as a SOLO PERFORMER or a BAND, Send Us Links to Your Five Best Cover or Original Performances! So We Can Start Evaluating Where You are as a SOLO PERFORMER or BAND, RIGHT NOW!
“I’m just more serious about doing music than anybody I’m finding on Craigslist, so with the whole world out there, I thought I’d try it this way! It just seems more likely to work!” - Join Jason Morton / EPIGRAM Registered Artist!
At the Same Time, We’ll Send You a Questionnaire, Designed to Find Out as Much About You and Your Band as Possible, so We have an Idea about what Kinds of Songs You Want to Write and Perform and What Your Goals are, as far as, Recording and Performing!
“Whether it’s my song or somebody else’s, I don’t really care at this point, I just want to get a real song out there and be pushed by a record company and see what happens!” - Join Alex McKay / EPIGRAM Registered Artist!
After We Evaluate Your Questionnaire, Covers and Originals Start Sending Us Demos!
When You Send Us a Demo, Send Us Links to Three Well Known Songs of the Same Genre, that You Feel Your Song Compares Favorably To!
We'd Also Like You Send Us a Version of Each Song with No Vocal Track and a PDF (or similar file) with Lyrics and Chords, But This Is Totally Optional!
“What are your friends going to say to you? ‘You suck’ or ‘Yeah I really like your band, but there are the 350 bands I like better.’" - Join Craig Moritz / EPIGRAM Registered Artist!
We are Asking for Comparable Songs Because, We Find that when It Comes to Talking about Songs with Artists, It Helps to have some Reference Points to Start the Discussion! But that In No Way Means, that Your Demos have to Sound Like Anyone Else!
But It Does Mean, that when We Start Breaking Your Demo Down, Into It’s Component Parts (melody, rhythm, dynamic variation, hooks, integration of the lyrics with music, structure, projection of attitude or emotion, etc.) and Comparing It to Other Songs in its Genre, Most Song Screeners and Other Listeners Should Feel, that Most of the Component Parts of Your Demo Equal or Exceed those of Comparable Songs!
“Well we live about a hundred miles outside of bumfuck, but we are pretty good. So when then their production truck drives into town, it’ll be like a cargo ship rescuing somebody out on the ocean. God it’ll feel good!” - Join Bill Ford of Last Chance Motel / EPIGRAM Registered Artist!
But Don’t Worry if Your Song Isn’t There Yet, Or You Don’t Know if It Is There Yet!
We are Here to Help, by Giving You Results Oriented Feedback and a Chance to Get Out of the Echo Chamber of Your Head for Awhile and Get Some Useful Outside Input!
For Example, We’ll Often Suggest Changes to Lyrics, Structure, etc., that You are Free to Take or Leave, or Use to Inspire Further Changes by You!
“Why post covers or worse yet unoriginal, originals on Instagram or Youtube, when if you are serious all you want is for a record company to listen to originals anyway?” - Join Michael Blake / EPIGRAM Registered Artist!
The Reason We Want a Track with No Vocals and the Lyrics and Chords, Isn’t Because We Want to Replace Your Lead Singer (but we’ll look for one if you want us to), It’s just that A Lot of Songs are Let Down by Their Lyrics and Structure, and it is a lot easier for Producers and Lyricists to Experiment with a Song, if They have a Written Copy to Make Notes On and a Track with No Vocals to Play Around With and Project New Lyrics and Structure On To!
“Yeah, I want to make connections in the [music] industry, but not a bunch of bullshit ones! Just a couple of strong ones where we say to each other let’s get this done! The Epigram thing is more like that than other places. Their road trip or whatever is a production truck and crew coming to your door!” - Join Ian Wood / EPIGRAM Registered Artist!
As a REGISTERED ARTIST the Demos that You Send Us Don’t have to be Produced Anymore than It Takes to Get the Basic Point Across!
We’re Really Much More Interested in Having You Focus on Writing and Playing Songs that will Engage Listeners, Almost No Matter How They are Produced, than Spending Any Time on Songs that You have to Hope Can be Saved in Post-Production!
“Everything I’m doing is to get noticed by a record company anyhow, so I might as well submit or register or something. But I do like the idea of somebody telling me what they are thinking!” - Join Amanda Earle / EPIGRAM Registered Artist!
In Some Cases, We’ll have Songwriters following Solo Performers and Bands they find to be Particularly Powerful or Unique, so that they can Work on Writing a Song or Two Especially for Them! But Only If, We’re Sure that the Soloist Performer or Band is Receptive to Looking At and Performing Someone Else’s Material!
“It’s not like I’m going to go to Berklee or something, it’s way to expensive, but I do want to see if I can do something. So this is it.” - Join Isabella Elise / EPIGRAM Registered Artist!
No Matter What, WHEN YOU REGISTER AS AN ARTIST with US, You’ll Receive a Monthly Evaluation from Us, to Let You Know How You and Your Band are Doing from Our Perspective Relative to other Bands Sending Us Material in the Same Genre!
Your Evaluations Will Also Include an Analysis of How We Feel Each Song You Sent Us, Stacks Up to the Comparable Songs You Sent In with Your Demo!
“I figured how could you even kind of say that you were serious about your music when you weren’t even willing to pay less than a dollar a day to audition new songs and have people honestly tell you what they thought of your new stuff!” - Join Steve Jensen / EPIGRAM Registered Artist!
Ultimately, When We Feel You are Getting Close to Making a Song the World Will Embrace, We’ll Communicate with You, every which way we can, To Make Sure We All Get on the Same Page and Get Your Song Produced and Out There!
We’re Totally Unique Among Everybody Working with Musicians and Performers Today, In Our Focus on Giving You Creative Feedback and Getting Your Songs Produced, BEFORE YOU HAVE A RECORD CONTRACT!
“I just want to do stuff, I just want a reason to do stuff and if I do stuff I don’t want to just send it into a black hole! At least with this [registering as an artist] it's not like a total black hole!” - Join Mark Durant / EPIGRAM Registered Artist!
Hopefully, Sooner Rather than Later, We’ll find one of YOUR SONGS that We’re All Really Feeling and We’ll Get Together on Recording a Release Version of that Song!
To Capture Everything We’ll Either Send Our Mobile Production Truck to You, Meet You at a Recording Studio by your Place, have You Come Out and Work with Us, or if You have a Studio at Your Place and Want to Do It, We’ll Try It that Way!
Once You Produce and Release Your First Song with Us, We can Start Talking Contract, IF YOU ARE INTERESTED, or You can Use the Song You Produced with Us, to Open the Door to Bigger and Better Things (even though were not sure what that would be) - But hey, One Thing at a Time!
“How can your friends honestly say how good any of your songs are when they can’t imagine the arrangement and the production or how it sounds compared to demos of other songs that made it!” - Join Andrea Nicole / EPIGRAM Registered Artist!
